Genocide Denial

1933 CE, the Nazis gained the total control of the whole Germany and put the country under Hitler’s command. From that point, Jews were gathered, sent to concentration camps, and then killed. This incident is called the Holocaust. During the Holocaust, about eleven to fifteen million people died due to the massive killing by Nazis. In 1975 CE, the Khmer Rouge took over Cambodia and started to execute their ideology. However, they killed whoever disapproved the government, which resulted in two million of deaths. With lots of concrete evidence, they all showed that several genocide incidents really happened. Nevertheless, some of people still try to avoid the truth. One possible reason is that as time passes by quickly, fewer and fewer people remember the horrible incident and no one is interested anymore. Then the truth would be easily hidden away. Also, it might be the censorship of the country is extremely strict, as in 1984 by George Orwell. In the PRC, the “Big Brothers”, or the government, take power in everything; they pick out the news they don’t want to show and only reveal partial truths, letting no one to know the whole thing. Thirdly, the truth isn’t always pretty; sometimes it would be ugly. Admitting an atrocity or massacre really occurred can definitely bring down the country’s reputation. It will harm the international relationships for the country and affect all the trading and the economy system. No one would want to be friends with a killer. People all want to be the “good guy”, or be with the “good guy”; as a result, those who have suffered through or performed genocide would not confess. Nonetheless, the most important part isn’t all about evading the reality, but to make up for the mistake, to adjust the unfairness, to justify the rights.
