FOUR ACCORDS SIGNED BY SEF AND ARATS

Amidst all the protests around the ARATS meeting, four agreements were officially ratified and signed by both chairmen of ARATS and SEF. They were:
- Direct air shipping between Taiwan and mainland. (108 flights per week!)
- Direct sea shipping between Taiwan and mainland.
- Direct postal service between Taiwan and mainland.
- (My favorite) More directness about food safety issues between Taiwan and mainland. This means that any problems with food safety on one side of the strait will have to be reported immediately (which the PRC did a little late). Also, people on either side of the strait can file for compensation for damage done by detrimental foods. Mainland will probably soon see many Taiwanese companies file for damaged sales and reputation.

The first three accords mentioned will be put into effect after 40 days. The food safety one will be in effect after 7 days.

Amen.
