消費券 AND THE TAIWAN STOCK SURGE

The further planning of the 消費券 today caused the TSEC Weighted to have a rebound up 81.17 points (1.98%). The index is still quite low at 4171.10, though.

It was proposed that the 消費券 will be printed by the 中央銀行. Citizens will be able to receive them at stations all around (just like the elections) during a weekend. Citizens who have not yet gotten the vouchers after the weekend can then get them at post offices.

One major reason why the government is not simply giving money is because the vouchers have an expiration date, giving people extra incentive to use the vouchers quickly. This is another instance where education can help bottom-up, by teaching students to be not only frugal but "responsible consumers".

The DPP caucus cannot afford to not agree to the plan. Constituents will be asking if they disagreed: "Did the DPP just steal 3600NT from me?" Of course, if someone from the DPP proposes a reasonable addition of money to the 3600NTD, the Exectuive Yuan will have to also agree.

(Pray the US market will not continue to be sad like it is now.)
