The terrorists' real motives, I would have to object though, is Heaven. Mixed with extreme jihad is Pakistani nationalism against India, which might also hinder USA relations with Pakistan and India at the same time.
Reverberating the tragic incident is the US market (INDU dropped 679.95 points), and very obviously the Bombay market.
(I would like to think that the Dow drop was due to Obama's appointment of Secretary of State, but no, the public seems ready to accept her.)
